Morecambe is one of those seaside towns which is a little frayed around the edges, as most of these weather and tourist-dependent resorts are, but toddlers will be blind to those rough edges, and simply happy to explore the stunning beach. With its award-winning promenade, five miles of sandy coastline and stunning views of the Lake District across the water, Morecambe beach and promenade offer hours of fun for toddlers who want to build castles in the sand, eat salty chips out of a plastic cone and push pennies into bright and noisy arcade machines.

Fairy Glen, Parbold
Hidden just off A5209 at the top of Parbold Hill, Fairy Glen is the most fantastic place to bring little ones who are looking to find a little bit of magic and fairy dust. We love exploring the picturesque hiking trail, climbing the bridges over the stream, capturing photos in front of the waterfalls and stumbling upon fairy doors whilst looking around for the fairies who inhabit this enchanted forest. A truly magical place to bring toddlers, and a picnic of course!
Windmill Animal Farm, Burscough
If you’re looking for a family attraction that will keep you busy for the full day, then look no further than Windmill Animal Farm, located just outside of Burscough. Offering indoor soft play, a miniature railway offering train rides, an outdoor playground, access to a huge range of farm animals, cute furry pets and a lovely cafe with coffee and cake to die for, Windmill Animal Farm keeps our energetic toddler busy for hours on end. They also offer lots of seasonal activities such as pumpkin picking in October and lambing in March.

SEA LIFE Centre, Blackpool
Aquariums are the perfect day out of toddlers and we love the SEA LIFE Centre in Blackpool which can be visited as part of a weekend trip exploring Lancashire’s favourite seaside town.
Every sea life creature imaginable is housed in Blackpool’s SEA LIFE Centre including seahorses, sharks, clownfish, jellyfish, stingrays, eels, octopi and turtles. The creatures are housed in tanks which are easily viewed by tiny toddlers and gigantic adults alike and there’s plenty of facts and information available alongside so everybody can learn something new.

As well as being able to wander around the aquarium, taking your time to see all of the sea life, there are also special events on throughout the day including a 4D film, feeding time and animal talks.

Martin Mere Wetlands Centre, Burscough
If you have a bird mad toddler, then Martin Mere Wetlands Centre is a must-visit when you’re in Lancashire. Located on the West Lancashire Coastal Plains, Martin Mere has played host to over 280 species of bird on its wetlands and every Autumn it welcomes 30,000 pink-footed geese, as they make their journey from Iceland south for the winter. There’s so much more to see and do at Martin Mere, whether you’re a bird lover or not. Toddlers love the outdoor play area, the boating trips across the wetlands and toddler storytime on a Thursday morning.
