This month I was given the opportunity to grab the boys a couple of new toys off Wicked Uncle.com in exchange for my honest opinions of the site and buying experience.
So, what is Wicked Uncle?
On Wicked Uncle you will find toys and gifts for anyone aged 0-105! What makes this site different from others is that you can easily navigate to gifts for either boys or girls and also filter it by age straight away. The first thing that came to mind for me when I saw this was how much easier it will make gift buying for the boy’s friends. Being a Mum of 3 boys means that I sometimes find it hard to know what kind of toys girls are in to at 5 or 7 years old so this takes that guessing away for me.
The other stand out feature that would make me return to Wicked Uncle for my gift buying is that they also offer gift wrapping and card writing to include in your parcel. This means you can easily choose, order and deliver a gift to a friend or relative who might live far away so conveniently.
What was the site like?
To keep things fair I thought I better get something that both the older boys would enjoy (at 1, Hudson is still young enough to not realise he didn’t get anything!) so I browsed through both the ages 5 and 7 boys sections. Obviously, at the ages aren’t too far apart probably about half the items showed up on each age group. What I did love though was that these weren’t the average toys that you see on every other site. Instead, there were things that sparked imagination, encouraged creativity or were just gross or funny (perfect for boys then). It took me a while to choose some items as I wanted something that they would be excited about and not just play with for 5 minutes before throwing in the back of the toy cupboard.
I have a habit when online shopping of filling up my basket with absolutely everything I love then going through a deleting everything until I am left with only the items I can afford. On the Wicked Uncle site, I ended up with about 20 items and managed to narrow it down to 4. I didn’t choose the gift wrapping this time but I’m definitely going to keep it in mind for Christmas.

So the 4 toys I ended up choosing for the boys were:
Quizzie – Squirts Water if you’re wrong!
Quizzie is a cute little robot that has 3 different games. Our favourite is the one where you can record your own questions and answers to test someone else. If the get the question right Quizzie displays a smiley face, if they are wrong Quizzie squirts them with water! It’s not too much water to have to worry about cleaning up but enough to generate a few squeals of fear and delight.
Dinosaur Torch and Projector
Flinn particularly loves this. It’s a small torch that has 3 sets of images you can insert in the top. Each image is of either a full dinosaur or part of one. You have to hold the torch fairly close to the wall for the image to be in focus so it’s quite small which was a shame as I was imagining large dinosaur head projected on the wall!
T-Rex Buzz Wire – 2 in 1
Got to admit this has caused some frustration in our house. It comes with two wire outlines, one harder than the other and instead of making the traditional buzzing noise it roars instead. This was really challenging even for the boys and even the grown up’s were tested with it!
Scissors Paper Stone – Fast Reaction Game
Isaiah loves the traditional “Rock, paper, scissors” game so thought this would be a great one for him. To play it’s very similar to snap but with a twist when you have to match up colours and symbols. It’s a really good brain exercising game.
Overall, I was really happy with the items I received from Wicked Uncle as well as the whole purchasing experience itself. The toys were of great quality and there was plenty to choose from. Wicked Uncle is definitely a site I will consider for my upcoming Christmas shopping. Fancy taking a look yourself? Click here.
