2 Clever New Essentials I love for Kids With The Flu

Written in Collaboration with Medescan – all thoughts, experiences and opinions are my own.

I have to say, I have been a pretty lucky Mummy in that my kids don’t get sick too often. Even when they do it is never too dramatic and they bounce back pretty quick. However, I don’t think any Parent can fully escape having kids with the flu. Once your little one starts day care or big school it seems there is a constant snotty stream of kids with the flu and so avoiding it is pretty impossible.

Of course we don’t want our kids getting ill as we don’t want them to suffer but let’s face it, we also don’t want to deal with the extra whinging, tears and tantrums that inevitably accompany kids with the flu.

As a Parent I am always on the look out for new products and gadgets. I love convenience and anything that makes even the simplest of things quicker and easier.

This Winter is Isaiahs first one at School. That means a few germs have been brought home and shared around and we have all spent the last month or so sneezing and coughing our way through our days. Luckily for us we have been given the opportunity to try out 2 awesome new products from Medescan. These are products that have been on my “need to get when I have a bit of spare cash to spend” list for quite some time (that spare cash doesn’t show it’s face too often!) It’s silly really that I haven’t got them sooner as they are both products that I will probably have through each of their childhoods and will definitely get a lot of use out of.

So what are they I hear you ask?

A Touchless Thermometer and a Rainbow Mist Humidifier

I will start with the Touch-less Thermometer.

It's hard as a Parent when you have kids with the flu. You want any trick or tool you can find to make it a little easier. That's why a good thermometer and a huidifier can be life savers. For more realistic Parenting visit Imperfectmummy.com

I am really bad at remembering what temperature my childs body is meant to be and what temperature I should start panicking at! I am also a little guilty of thinking that I should perhaps take their temperature but am too afraid of waking them up and them not being able to go back to sleep!

This thermometer takes away all the guessing and all the fear!

First, not only does it display their actual temperature but depending on what the child’s temperature is, it will light up green for a healthy temp or red for a high temp.

Second, it takes the temperature in less than 1 second!!

Third, it is completely touchless! You just need to hold it approximatly 1 inch from the patients right temple and it produces a reading that is accurate within +0.3° C

Other features include being able to turn the sound right off, switching between Celsius and Fahrenheit and it’s ability to also read the room or surface temperature!

The Rainbow Mist Humidifier

You wouldn’t think a Humidifier would be exciting to kids but my kids couldnt get this out of the box and set up in their room quick enough. What makes this one stand out is the fact that it has a 7 colour LED night light, ooooh!! At first this made me nervous that there would be arguments over what colour to set it at. Luckily they both went for red however if they hadn’t agreed I could have just set it to go through all the lights (Bearing in mind this may have turned their quite small room into a disco!)

Another feature I love about this humidifier is the size of its water tank and the adjustable vapour flow. The tank holds up to 2.8 litres and so you can get between 10-20 hours of continuous vapour flow – this means it will stay running all night – perfect for kids with the flu!

Along with this humidifier I also got the Medescan Aroma Mix which is a blend of Lavender and Eucalyptus. This Special Blend can be added directly into the water tank. However if you want to use you own blends and oils you can do by adding them to the designated draw.

I use essential oils like easy air, on guard, frankincense, peppermint, oregano, and melaleuca to help them breathe easier, sleep better, help with respiratory ailments and to promote a healthy immune system.
